General chit-chat

That's the neat part, you don't!
This was one of the most effective battle strategies in history. It was used all the way up to the 15th century.

Although, one of its weaknesses was that it was incredibly clumsy... Effective and terrifying as it may be, it's still a large group of people having to walk coordinately. Changing direction was a bitch. Any faltering would be devastating. Notably, the Scots used it at the battle of Flodden Field, in the 1513. It had partial success in the initial stages, but then the soldiers got caught in thick mud. The front lines faltered, the formation fell, and the English soldiers could easily take down the individual pikemen.
Very interesting. Apparently this was also commanded by Alexander The Great.
Would be great to see this accurately displayed in a TV series with a GoT budget.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey today lasted 40 seconds, that's crazy.

Mildly interesting: the chamber of Civil Engineers Building is one of the few buildings still standing in a city in Turkey.

One has gotta wonder what the unidentified flying objects were above nothern U.S.
The first one was the Chinese spy/weather balloon, but we don’t know much about the other three…

So this is happening.

So what are the featured games? Popular competition games with huge tournament scenes like League of Legends? DotA? Starcraft? CS:GO? Smash?

Nope, it's... a bunch of sports games. Really weird ones, too. Virtual archery? Virtual baseball? Just Dance???
The only two games in there with an actual competitive scene are Gran Turismo, and chess. And one of those really doesn't need an esports league.

I bet this was the result of some 70-year old boomer at the IOC who went "Kids like them nintendo videogames! Let's just put in a bunch of sports as nintendos!"

On one hand I'm glad they're including esports, on the other hand.. who the hell selected these games??
