Found out today that my background has been burnt-in into my LCD screen...

Monitor is a Philips 276E8VJSB.
Fuck me, bought this one August last year.

It's actually a little less worse now, only see the square and no longer the letters. Hopefully it'll go away completely.

Hmm, some tech forums suggest you just power it down for a few days, and see if that fixes it... A last ditch effort would be to burn in a white screen, so that at least, there is no more pattern that's visible.

I also set my monitor sleep trigger time to 10 minutes instead of 4 hours... That might help.
