So you see, learning to drive with stick shift is always preferable than auto... with stick you can easily learn to drive auto, but with auto it's harder to learn stick

Going on a flat surface? Use the clutch and coast for a bit. Or while going down hills. Much easier to use the clutch than to shift to neutral in an automatic.

I was talking about shifting as soon as possible without using the gear to it's fullest.

How, exactly? It's the same as the vehicle being in neutral.

It just releases the connection of the gears to the engine.

So? Clutch releases the mechanical connection between the engine and the gearbox, where should it damage something?
