Criticism of Capitalism

"nobody is forcing you"

no no no, don't worry, the wealth will trickle down, see? Any minute now.

I have pretty mixed feelings about this post in general. Indeed, the notion that free labour or rather unpaid labour is being forced unto the people by "rich" people is true in some circumstances. However, Mr Beast is one of the most philanthropic YouTubers with most of his disposable income going towards helping others while recording hence allowing him to earn more and help more (it's his modus operandi). Is asking for help in such a way the most dignified? Definitely not. Is there any connection that will be facilitated? Obviously not. Is that request out of hand? Honestly, it really depends. He hasn't really asked in the best way here, but he's not a conglomerate entity. If I saw this, I'd probably rearrange them to be in normal order just because I'd be helping out underpaid retail workers. But I definitely wouldn't do it for his happiness, although I must admit his philanthropic tendencies would make me more inclined to help a bit if I could.

After reading your reply I believe you're right. However: replace Mr.Beast by any other internet personality and it's a para social relationship.

As an economics student my views on capitalism differ greatly from the mean. I do agree on it being flawed, but the externalities that caused this are equally to blame (crime, backdoor channels and so on). The alternatives also don't make much sense to me, we've all seen what socialism has done - some of yall reading this might have been alive before the Soviet Union fell. It also had it's fair share of problems. Ironically this leads to a second pseudo-economic problem.

I am in no way in favour of alternatives. However some things about capitalism frustrate me.
Biggest example being companies like Apple, Amazon paying almost nothing in taxes thanks to a loophole.

That frustrates me too. And then not to mention how piracy becomes so looked down upon. I marvel at how at some point in between the Renaissance and todays Modern age humanity transcended from fraternity to natural selection. On a tangent, are we allowed to discuss piracy on TMS?
