[SOLVED] I only use 2,49 gb of the 4 gb installed memory

Hi guys,

I have a problem.

I recently installed Windows 7 32-bit on my Acer Aspire 5741G.
When I went to Computer > Properties, I saw this:

"Installed memory (RAM): 4,00 GB (2,49 GB usable)"

I Googled and tried this:

MSConfig > Boot > Advanced Options > Maximum Memory is unchecked (that's how it should be)
But that didn't work :(

Some other people say it's something with my video card that uses some memory. (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, up to 2235 MB hypermemory)

Anyone who can help me? Thanks!

Why don't you try checking it, rebooting, see what it's like, then uncheck it and reboot again.

I checked it, rebooted. Notebook was very slow, I checked the properties of my computer:

"Installed memory (RAM): 4,00 GB (256 MB usable)"

Very weird, unchecked it, got again this, the normal one:

"Installed memory (RAM): 4,00 GB (2,49 GB usable)"

I think you have to install 64-bit. I PM'd you ;_;

I first had W7 64-bit installed on my notebook, but I wanted a clean install (without all the Acer Recovery stuff), so I did a W7 32-bit install.
Is that bad?

My Graphiccard uses some RAM. I think 1 GB.

I installed W7 64bit and my problem has been fixed! Ah, I love fresh installs ^^
