Some crazy woman in England actively seeks to ban Sleeping Beauty because of this.

Also, the original was way more fucked up. The prince didn't kiss her, he fucked her. She didn't wake up, but did get pregnant. 9 months later, twins pop out, and one of them starts sucking on his still sleeping mom's thumb, sucking out the poison and waking her up.

Yes they were. The fairy tales as you know them now are severely softened compared to the original.
