Dohn Community High School, a dropout recovery charter school in Cincinnati, is attempting a novel method of persuading student to come to class: Paying them.

The school says it has teamed up with donors and the Easter Seals to offer seniors who arrive on-time every day $25 a week. Lower grades are eligible to receive $10 a week.

“You have students who we haven’t seen in a week or two coming to school,” says principal Ramon Davenport. “So that tells me that this incentive that we’re trying is actually working.”

Actually, this might just work. Those kids don't come to school because they try to be "cool", so normal campaigns don't work as well. Cold hard cash might just work.

Well if people offered me $25 to go to school, I would say nty, If I was a girl I could make $90 p/h p/c more then what school pays. :troll:

I think it's a good idea, and I feel that it might work. Kids who haven't been attending for two weeks showing up because they're getting paid though, it just seems to me like they're going to school and not benefiting from it in any other way than receiving an extra 25$. If they attend school and attempt the work and attempt to better themselves, THEN they'll know that the incentive they're offering is working. Until then, however, it's a waiting game.

If you ask me this is not the right way at all to motivate people to go to school.

Yeah it's not, school is there to educate you to further your future employment, if you don't want to go then don't, but don't whine that you'll be on food stamps.
