I have the same notebook, but still with Vista. (and Opensuse as main OS).
You are lucky, because I have many problems with it:
- After a 3/4 year the graphic card was broken because of overheating problems
- After 1 year the connector (energy) began to wiggle extremely, after a while it broke down
- The new connector caused a short circuit
- After 2 years the left hinges of the display were broken. Now I can not flip it shut
anymore. It is not a notebook anymore.
- Since the purchase: HP's software, especially "Quickplay" and the stuff, caused freezes while starting, stoping a programm or switching to the desktop. So I uninstalled them.
- After 2 years the HD was near a crash. I had the luck that my linux based system warned me that I should buy a new one. Unfortunately it was IDE, but the old hard disk had an adapter.
btw do you use HP's old graphic drivers or directly nvidia's? If you are using nvidia's, are they working fine? (No overheating problems...)

Sometimes its just luck to get a fine notebook.
