Days after a mysterious Portal update that teased an announcement, Valve has confirmed everyone's suspicions: Portal is getting a sequel.
Portal 2 will be released during the "coming holiday season." No other details were provided by the brief press release. There's no mention of what platforms it will appear on. Portal appeared on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 as part of the Half-Life 2 Orange Box bundle.
Casting documents released in the summer of 2008 suggested that the game could be a prequel. If so, it would probably depict Aperture Science's descent from leading science laboratory to abandoned ruin.
