Watching this, it makes me think: at some point, there is no way to beat the record, is there? Once you know all the right paths and tubes, it becomes a matter of timing and reactions, and someone is going to get the perfect run where every little moment of hesitation is eliminated.

Never thought about it that way, but indeed, someday, someone is going to break the ultimate record, then people will only be able to match it.
However for a game like Mario, we'll probably reach it a bit faster than a game like GTA, where there are a lot more factors.
