From Software’s head of R&D, Masanori Takeuchi, has said the studio is well aware of the desire for a PC release of Dark Souls, but ultimately, the decision is entirely Namco’s.
Speaking in an interview GameTrailers, Takeuchi said if the publisher decided the game should be ported, From Software would oblige.
“That’s going to be a decision left up to the publisher, but yes, we have seen the comments and we do know of the desire for a PC version,” he said on the matter.
According to DSOgaming, back in February Namco’s forum administrator, shoupinou, posted on the site that he couldn’t say whether Namco was working on a PC port or not, but he wanted to get in touch with the person who started the Dark Souls PC petition.
The petitioner’s goal was to have 100,00 signatures, but it fell a bit short of the mark with 87,500. Still, it was enough to apparently garner interest from Namco, to a degree.
Now, we just need to keep our fingers crossed.
