If you host this kind of a service, you can't just shut it down! :badboy:

How dare you talk like that... The system was HACKED and the files were DELETED by the hacker!

+ Theres millions of substitute uploaders on the internet, just re-upload.

The whole UpFFS thing was done wrong.

First of all a uploader service that doesn't require you to register or to pay some fee to get maximum download speed. During all that the site is on a very fast connection on a very good server... That's not how things work in 2009 anymore.
Secondly protection - no attention was paid to high level security in UpFFS. Even the passwords for users were stored in files.
Thirdly backups - when advertised as a reliable, fast and a real good service that doesn't require any sort of registering or paying $3 to get access for a day - there have to be backups and security has to be really thorough.

And a site with so many users and such a big load already (much of my SFSFv2 files were on UpFFS also) you can't simply SHUT IT DOWN. But I suppose that since UpFFS was set up as somewhat a gratitude project for all the internet users but then the owner got €10000 in debt I'm unsure.

GF UpFFS.

// and about FrostUpload - epic script, nicer theme. JavaScript ftw.

Well first of all, I'd like to add that there's really no service that doesn't want something in return.

All 'good' uploading services want some money, sure it's free but the good ones ALWAYS have something BETTER to offer to users.

Second of all, it was a good and fast server however all websites on HostUpon are limited to a max amount of resource usage before termination.

Also, my buddy Matthew made the script for FrostUpload :P

All i did was make the theme, and fix it's exploits, then lower resource usage.

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone,

but this is resource eating...

Make sure your PHP.ini settings are to the lowest they can for performance issues, what was overloading me was PHP script execution timeouts.

People would leave their PC on overnight uploading 50GB files (RETARDS!), So i put a max execution timeout + filesize limit.

AFAIK UpFFS isn't on HostUpon!

"Name Servers:
cloud1.hostupon.com
cloud2.hostupon.com
See upffs.com DNS Records"

Even if it wasn't, all hosts have resource limits, A shared account can't just use up all the server resources for a cheap price per month.

I even have limits too, my resource limiter is by another hosting company(They offered me theirs :D), Couldn't make my own and plus it's good :T

UpFFS was in the hands of Zez, I just funded the project.

Sorry, what I did was:
[11:14:09] <+Andre> !dns www.upffs.com
[11:14:10] <+J03K> Found 1 addresses
[11:14:10] <+J03K> DNS: www.upffs.com ADDR: www.upffs.com IP: 70.33.208.60
[11:14:14] <+Andre> !dns 70.33.208.60
[11:14:15] <+J03K> Found 1 addresses
[11:14:15] <+J03K> DNS: 70.33.208.60 ADDR: cs1.uhcloud.com IP: 70.33.208.60

I believe Zez is on HostUpon's cloud hosting, they bought their cloud servers from uhcloud.com i think :p

That's not how things work in 2009 anymore? That's opinionated, Mr. Bush.

This site was designed for the users of TheMaveSite. However if there are people on this site that would like to ruin a free service just for the shits of it, then there will be no free service. I overestimated TMS apparently.

I wasn't given access to the cPannel, all the backups had to be to my hard disk (which isn't reliable since I used to wipe my PC every other month). Backing up was limited, and I didn't feel like downloading every fucking file that was uploaded to an upload service every week.

And for the record, wtf is "GF"? "GF" = abbreviation of "Girl Friend" unless told otherwise.

Well, Zezombia, don't feel hurt over what I said.

My opinion but also it has proven itself nowadays. Good services require you to pay for "unlimited access" - UpFFS didn't. If a ring of people know about it, they upload pictures there. If someone is linked to a picture uploaded on UpFFS, the chances are high they will check the site out.

Claiming that it was meant for TMS use isn't an excuse to have low security. If I didn't hash the 21000 passwords I basically have stored in the MySQL and said that it was only meant for SFSFv2 script use it wouldn't sound too good since the MySQL could be hacked.

Please point me to an INTERNETional declaration saying that the only meaning of "GF" is "girlfriend".

2) The passwords are encrypted, I'm not sure what point your trying to make about "hash".

3) Learn to speak English. Or at least read it.

And for the record, wtf is "GF"?
That's a question, and:
unless told otherwise.
That's an annoyed statement.
