I know, it sounds super spammy.
So, in April, Equador was hit by a massive earthquake. International help has been coming in, but so far it's only reaching the bigger cities. The smaller towns are getting barely any help, and some towns don't even have clean drinking water.
However, one of the local people, Guido Manuel De La Torre Olvera, a chemical engineer, has developped a project that consists of a mobile water treatment facility. This will help supply clean water in the little towns that don't have access to it (yet!).
Of course, such a project costs money. A Spanish company called SETA (Sociedad Española de Tratamiento de Agua) has pledged to donate half of the money needed. But, we still need to other half.
Now, why the fuck would a cynical asshole like me share this sort of stuff?
Because, TL;DR, my GF spend a year in Equador, where she was housed with a host family. Guido was her host brother (so, yeah, it's personal). Also, she wanted to donate money to Equador as soon as the earthquake hit, but, being skeptic, didn't want to donate to a foundation where 90% of the money disappeared into the pockets of some douchebag who wanted to buy a new BMW.
So, she got into contact with Guido, who told her about the project, and here we are now.
Guido wanted to set up the fundraiser himself, but GoFundMe only allows projects from certain countries, and while Belgium was on that list, Equador wasn't. Hence my GF setting up this fundraiser in his name.
Not much of TL;DR, huh?
Anyway, I'm not going to ask you to donate money (although it would help), since I really don't want to come over as a spambot. But what I AM asking of you guys if if you could please share this fundraiser, so it can reach as many people as it can. I'm planning on posting some posts on Reddit and maybe Imgur as well, I'll update with the links later.
So please, share this link, you would really help me, and a lot of people out.
This one!
