Google+ is now open to the public and sporting several awesome new features, just one day after Facebook introduced a batch of altogether pointless interface changes that have drawn the collective ire of the Internet. It’s rather obvious that Google timed this one.

You don't have to "switch" to it, you can use both. It doesn't cost anything
