External HD trouble

Hey Guys ive been having some trouble with my external hard drive Its recenently stoped working and im having trouble finding out why When ever its pluged into PC its recongized as a USB device but then does nothing

I'm also having a bit of trouble with my terabyte, so I'm going to buy a new one before this one dies.

It isn't like they're going to check your data. Even if they report it to police afterwards it is considered that they obtained the data without being allowed to or such, maybe it won't be considered so case is dropped...
