I always wanted to create a list like this, especially since my oldschool collection is not properly sorted. The hardest part is dividing different hiphop periods. After googling for 20 minutes I've realized that there are many different eras, like "Golden Era", "Diamond Era", "Silver Era". But depending on what website you are reading about these, the years vary every time... So where do we draw the invisible lines? I'm gonna go with easy and go for 1990-1990. Of course this is far from perfect because there are 1999 tracks that sound a lot "newer" (for example DMX - Party Up), but the same year includes classics like "Nas – N.Y. State of Mind", which is definitely oldschool.
After giving this a bit more thought I've decided you can't really put a time period on olschool hiphop. We can however list all the artists and tracks that definitely feel oldschool.
