Cops confiscate biggest joint ever from 4/20 rally in Santa Cruz, owner threatens lawsuit.
Pot may be legal in Colorado and Washington State now, but the students of UC Santa Cruz have one of the longest-running, highest-profile 4/20 traditions going anywhere. Last weekend, as they do every year on 4/20, students gathered on campus to brazenly smoke pot outdoors. Making no attempt to hide, the students make it easy for cops to show up and rain on the parade, which they do every year.
This year, however, cops showed up to confiscate the usual array of dime bags and bongs but struck the motherlode: a four-foot-long, 2.5-pound joint worth an estimated $5,000 or $6,000.
The joint exceeded the state’s one-ounce legal limit for those carrying medical marijuana licences by a multiple of about 35, but the cops still didn’t arrest the owner of the massive doobie.
Instead, as the cop carried away the club-sized joint the guy walked alongside him, threatening to sue for stealing his property and for lying to him. “You lied to me, too. Dude you’re a liar. You’re a liar,” he said. “I can’t wait to see you in court. I can show how you’re harassing me.”
This will probably sound like a terrible idea when this dude sobers up. Video below.
