That's actually not that effective, since you blow air in there, but the air can not get out that easily. The best thing to do is to also remove the other side of the case.

Explain how it turns an 80 degree graphics card into a 60 degree graphics card, while under a heavy load?
Also it cools my CPU down and lets the CPU fan run at a lower RPM

I'd say it's pretty damn effective. I have my fan at an angle though, sorta pushing the air through and out the back case fan
 
The problem with this case mod is that the air can only get out where the air is being pushed in, thus it is more difficult for the air to come out. If you just remove the other panel as well the air will be able to just flow through, which is a lot more efficient.
 
It won't just flow through, you might notice there's usually a motherboard in computers. Big ass motherboards.

The air can hit the motherboard and spread to the left and right, going out the back exhaust and front exhaust 'ports', as it should, since the front and back fans are probably both pulling air from inside the case and pushing it out
 
It wouldn't harm the system, but hardly any air would get past the big ass motherboard. It would hit it, and spread to the sides, leading to the exhaust ports..

I do think a fan at max speed can do some damage to the motherboard, not much, but after say 10 years with it at max speed there MIGHT be some damage

That's the reason why it would take 10 years to do just a little bit of damage. But then again, a little bit of damage would already destroy your mobo most likely.
 
Who's gonna have a fan taped to their PC for 10 years? Nobody said it was a permanent solution, but it is effective..
So I guess CPU and case fans are dangerous too, over a long period of time they'll also do damage.
 
If erosion won't kill it, the person walking just a tad to close to the table will accidently hit the fan and make the PC fall to the ground, which is bound to crash the harddisk if the PC is on.
