Does he also go around and shouts derogative words at Indian people? Or chemically castrate homosexuals?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there were a lot of Indians in the UK in 1946? I'm sure it was the other way around since Britain colonized India.
Well IIRC, a lot of Indian soldiers were in the UK during WWII
Had no clue.. TIL
A lot of countries were involved in WWII. That's why they called it a "World" War.
Ever hear the story of the "Drei Brasilianischen Helden"?
In early 1943, there was a saying in Brazil: "It's more likely for a snake to smoke a pipe, than for the BEF to go the front and fight." BEF being the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, soldiers to fight abroad.
It meant that nobody believed Brazil was gonna mix into WWII. When they eventually did (in Italy), they nicknamed the forces "Cobras Fumantes" ("Smoking Snakes"), made their shoulder patch an actual
smoking snake, and Brazilians starting using "when snakes smoke pipes", instead of "when pigs fly".
In 1944, the BEF's Mountain Infantry Battalion was involved in taking the Italian town of Montese. Three of its soldiers were on foot doing patrols, when they hit large group of German soldiers, who told them to surrender. Instead, they hunkered down, and opened fire. They kept shooting, until they ran out of ammo. When they ran out, they affixed bayonets, and charged at the German troops. Unfortunately, they were shot down and killed.
The German soldiers, however, were so impressed with the sheer size of their massive balls, that they buried the three men with a cross, that had the inscription "Drei Brasilianischen Helden", "Three Brazilian heroes".
Here's a
pic, but in really low res.
Swedish metal band Sabaton wrote a song about them, called "Cobras Fumantes". If you like history and heavy metal, definitively check them out, 99% of their songs are about historic events, with a large part of them about WWII.
