My last PC update was over three years ago, so I decided last week to invest in a major update.

Everything changed this time.
  • CPU: i7 7700k to i7-10700KF
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 to Noctua NH-D14 (technically a downgrade)
  • MOBO: Asus PRIME Z270-P ATX LGA 1151 to MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS Z490
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x 16GB DDR4-3000) to 2x G.Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16D-16GTZR
  • GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR 8GB OC to MSI GeForce RTX 3070, 8GB, Gaming X Trio
  • PSU: Corsair CX750M to Corsair RM750
  • Case: Fractal Design Define R5 to Fractal Design Define R6
I lied. Storage did stay the same:
  • 1 TB Samsung SSD 970 EVO Nvme
  • 1 TB Samsung SSD 970 EVO PLUS Nvme
  • 500GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO SATA
  • 128GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO SATA
  • 1 TB WD HD SATA

Quick photo to show off the RGB. Sadly the RAM's RGB is blocked completely by the CPU cooler, should have known that...

Finally I can play GTA V and RDR2 on full settings at 2560x1440.

Shiieeeeettt, that's a nice upgrade!

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and MoBo too, but I'm a bit weirded out by rumours of Windows licenses being blocked? Did you have any issues with that?

I'm afraid waiting is all you can do...

By the time GTA6 comes out, your brand spanking new PC will be outdated.
Since we're looking at a 2027/2028 PC release, no truer words have been spoken.
