The first part of the movie is pretty much a softcore lesbian porn movie, the second part is a crime thriller. Together they make a "Lesbian Noir". Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily.
This was the Wachowski Sisters' debut movie (who would later go and direct The Matrix).
Tilly, married to her gangster boyfriend, falls in love with Gershon, a bad-ass ex-con. Together they decide to rob Joe (Corky). The actual execution doesn't really go according to plan, but boy the movie does a great job at keeping the tension up.
Joe Pantoliano absolutely nailed his role. I love that actor. He is pretty much Ralph from The Sopranos in this movie, but even more perfect. The sexual tension between Tilly and Gershon is insane, never seen something like that before in a movie. I do really recommend this movie if you're looking for something different and original. Another unique thing: Most of the movie was filmed in one location, thus it could work pretty well as a play.
