A US woman scared a would-be burglar away from her home by "acting like a large dog", according to police.
It happened late at night in Athens, Georgia, where the woman was startled by the sound of someone trying to break into her home, reports the Athens Banner-Herald.
As the man tried turning the woman's door knob, she got down on all fours, "began scratching at the door and acting like a large dog", the police report said.
The man, who wore an olive jacket and appeared to be homeless, quickly ran from the porch, according to the report. Police searched the neighborhood but to no avail.
Officers did not specify exactly how she mimicked a dog but readers commenting on the story in the Athens Banner-Herald, had a few ideas of their own.
Most assumed she made loud barking noises, one speculated that it must have been a 'cat burglar', while another asked: "Has she had her shots and was she wearing a tag?"
