I spent a week capturing one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years.

Shot in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia, at 70 degree north and 30 degrees east. Temperatures around -25 Celsius. Good fun.

Good luck even if it was clear, I'm pretty sure you're WAY too far south

Cool stuff to think about how it's actually happening... The stuff you're looking at is actually particles that are being affected by the very core of the earth.

The core of our earth spins around a solid metal core. The hot lava around it causes a magnetic field to appear around our earth, one which is invisible ofcourse. The sun emits particles. These usually get blocked by the magnetic field, but far north and far south the magnetic field is not as far away from the ozon as close to the hemisphere. Thus you see the particles sorta react with the earth.
