Hardware firm Smart Modular Technologies just announced a brand new line of solid state disk (SSD) drives that the company claims will not only achieve speeds of up to 1000MB/sec read and 500MB/sec write but will also range in size from 200GB to 1.6TB.
No word on pricing or availability just yet. Smart says that the drives will be “cost effective”. Given the current pricing trends for SSD, however, I’m guessing that their definition of that term is a bit different than everyone else’s.
