Texas to Allow Concealed Handguns On College Campuses?

A bizarre bill to allow students to carry concealed handguns on college campuses is moving swiftly through the Texas House of Representatives and it’s expected to pass by a rather wide margin. It even has the support of the Governor, Rick Perry, who carries a pistol when he’s out jogging. This bit from the article says it all:

Supporters of the legislation argue that gun violence on campuses, such as the mass shootings at Virginia Tech in 2007 and Northern Illinois in 2008, show that the best defense against a gunman is students who can shoot back.
