Suspect says he didn’t know cocaine was illegal
A man arrested on cocaine possession allegedly claimed he did not know the drug was illegal in the state of Florida, according to a police report.
46-year-old Guy Lanchester was one of three people who were reportedly acting in a suspicious manner and then were seen walking onto the property of a resort in Key West, Fla., reports NBC Miami. Officers arrived on the scene and saw Lanchester walk behind a "sign/flower pot to conceal his actions." Upon further investigation, police discovered that the suspect had in his possession a small plastic bag containing white powder, which tested positive for cocaine, according to the police report.
Lanchester later told police, "I don't understand... I thought cocaine wasn't illegal in Florida," according to the report. He is being held without bond
