AMD and nVidia are squaring up for another battle royale over the top spot in the video card market. AMD fired the first shot yesterday by unveiling their new flagship, the 6690.
It’s an absolute beast of a card physically but not much is known regarding the specs. They need to be impressive, though, because nVidia’s GTX590 is rumored to feature 1024 total CUDA cores, 3GB of RAM with dual 384-bit memory controllers, and three DVI outputs for some single-card 3D Vision Surround gaming.
Expect to hear more about both cards at PAX East 2011.
