Nike makes Carolina Panthers shirt with wrong state on it
At least they got the team logo correct.
Nike quickly pulled an image of a Carolina Panthers T-shirt off its website after an unfortunate error resulted in the shirt displaying the state of South Carolina instead of North Carolina, where the Panthers play.
The Panthers have always tried to represent both North and South Carolina, even back to its first full season (1995) playing at Clemson University. But the team is located and plays its home games in Charlotte, which is in North Carolina.
The shirt has an "NC" in block letters along with the Panthers' logo on a silhouette of South Carolina.
A reader pointed out the error to The Charlotte Observer's Scott Fowler. Fowler writes that the reader was surfing the Nike site this week and saw the shirt. He purchased it for $32 and got a confirmation email that the shirt would be delivered. However, he tells Fowler he's not sure whether he'll get the actual shirt, which will surely be a collector's item, or the corrected version.
Fowler also wrote that he contacted Nike's media relations department, which said it was investigating what happened.
