Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 will reportedly launch next week

According to a new report, Google may be planning a sneak attack with its new Nexus 5 smartphone and Android 4.4 KitKat operating system update. CNET UK claims to have overheard “whispers around the campfire at Google Launchpad,” a two-week bootcamp for developers, suggesting that Google’s next-generation flagship smartphone and OS update will both launch next week on October 15th. If accurate, the releases will likely not be accompanied by a press conference since Google typically sends out invitations to the press more than a week before such events.

According to a purported leaked service manual for the Nexus 5, the smartphone’s specs include a 5-inch full HD 1080p display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, support for inductive charging, NFC and Android 4.4 KitKat. We have also seen leaked photos of the Nexus 5 several times now, including one published by Google itself, along with a pair of Nexus 5 videos that surfaced after the phone was left in a bar.

The latest rumors surrounding the Nexus 5 suggest that it will start at just $299 without any subsidies, which would certainly be shocking considering the handset’s cutting-edge specs.

I might buy it soon, my current HTC One X+ is falling to pieces, literally (Dropped it the a few months ago, after 2 different screen repairs, I get 1 bar less of LTE, and when I make a call, 3 bars next to a tower, 0 where I usually had 4)
