I got a desktop PC, It's not that bad but i have to put some parts in before it will work.

Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 2.0 GHz

2GB RAM (Will add more)

No hard drive right now

Some old ATI Radeon with 1.1 Pixel and 1.2 vertex shader. ( Will upgrade )

No CD/DVD Drive as of the moment.

I also got tons of other electronics with this PC;
Wireless mouse, 2 keyboards, one trackball mouse (eww), printer, scanner, 35' television (Sony), DVD Player, and some other 1998 PC that has 128MB RAM and 2x 4GB HD's

I'll try and fix this thing up, Can't upgrade the processor (It has the best one for Socket A type, i want this shit to have AM3 Socket type D: )

As of right now, It wont come on but i called my friend at a computer repair shop and he says some computers wont come on unless they have all the necessary parts.

Hope it works ;)

Sounds very horrible. Are you on a laptop now or a desktop? And if yes what are the specifications? And did you actually pay for the PC? IMO a total rebuild is required. Get a high end PC or something. :elvis:

No hard drive? I thought those things came stock standard :stoned: (Yes Mave I steal your emoticon :) )

Andre, it's not that bad.

2.0 GHz and i can get up to 8GB RAM + 1TB HD?

I'm on a replacement PC right now and it sucks crap:

Processor: Intel Celeron 2.13 GHz
RAM: 1GB
Video card: Intel Grahpics media accelerator X3100
HD: 120GB
64/32 BIT: 32

My other PC is so much better D:

I don't think your mobo will be compatible with all the upgrades you're planning on.

GHZ isn't everything. It means.. quit nothing. You can't compare the amount of GHZ of an old cpu with GHZ of the latest cpus.
8 RAM + 1TB HD
This wouldn't bring much performance improvments with that CPU (and GPU for games).

I'm on a replacement PC right now and it sucks crap
C'mon, its a REPLACEMENT PC. Other replacement PCs are even worse, like mine:
-Intel Pentium 4 (3.2 GHZ or so, very slow CPU)
-Nvidia 7200 GO
-2 GB RAM
-50 GB HD
-And: HEAVY "heating" problems, the CPU also makes strange noises, the whole notebook is very loud

I'm aware that it can be worse, but I'm spoiled with multitasking and i can't do any of it on this PC.

(Q. Why do i need to multitask?)

▪(A. Because i have A LOT to do in a day and it will take so much longer if i didn't do more than one thing at once.)

RAM improves multitasking and program initialization

(Q. Why do i need more RAM?)

▪(A. For multitasking as stated above.)

CPU improves program processing.

(Q. Why do i need more CPU power?)

▪(A. I really don't, Just want to play games just a bit better.)

Video card improves 3D performance and rendering.

(Q. Why do i need a good GPU?)

▪(A. I'm a gamer as you can see from one of my signatures.)

I'm getting my laptop back soon :-)

That CPU is gonna be a bottleneck for sure, you could get a gtx295 but with that CPU it would be pointless.

About the ram, 4gb is more than enough for today's games/aplications, unless you are going to run a server or something.

And i THINK that mobo is AGP so...

My mother board supports:
2HD drives, 2CD/DVD drives, and 2 Floppy drives.

It has 5 PCI Slots, and one AGP Slot

I just found out i can get 2.6GHz MAX processor for this PC.

It has 4 RAM Slots (Both different type, no idea why.)

As for why it wont turn on, I'm taking it to a repair shop as soon as i get back my other PC ;p

I said this before, but why not
"Sell all the stuff you just got and get a descent PC" ?

:T

Well except for HDD space, your replacement PC is better than my PC.

-Intel Pentium 4, 3.2 GHZ or something.
-Nvidia 6800
-512 MB RAM

-160 GB Internal HDD
-1 TB External HDD
(+ A Rockin' sound system )

Fantastic. That makes me feel great.

Talking about replacement PCs :sir:

Pentium 4 @ 2.8GHz
250GB HDD
212MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce FX5200

:ninja:

Well,

the dam PC won't turn on.

I've tried the following:

Disconnecting all parts such as the video card, CD/DVD drive, CPU and/or with/without all those it will not start.

Tracing back the power switch to the mother-board and looking at the diagram to see if it's connected accordingly. (It is.)

Replacing the power switch with a new one.

Clearing the CMOS (Take out the little battery)

Taking out all the RAM sticks and leaving just 1, 2 ,3 or 4.

Checking the CPU fan to see if it's connected to the right place and works (AMD based computers will not start without a working fan connected to the right place)

Replaced the power supply with a newer one i have.

All that and it still wont turn on..

I'm thinking it might be the following that's causing it not to turn on;

Faulty motherboard
Dead motherboard
Dead CPU

My friend owns a repair shop, so when i get around to it I'll take it to him and see what he can find out.

lol GPow.

I'd be smart enough to see that it wasn't plugged in..

As i said, i took every part out and it still wont work.

The processor is basically MADE for the motherboard, the RAM is the right DDR type...

There's nothing that looks incompatible..
