MotorStorm Apocalypse will not be arriving in April. In fact, Sony's not sure when it'll arrive.

"Similar to news already issued from our Japanese and European territories, SCEA can confirm that we are officially delaying release of MotorStorm Apocalypse from its scheduled April 12th date," read a post on the PlayStation.Blog. "We will provide more information regarding release timing at a later date."

Apocalypse is set within a city that's been completely devastated by a natural disaster. You have to wonder whether the earthquake and tsunami in Japan made that premise seem a little less cool. Delaying the game on those grounds wouldn't be out of character for Sony. Back in February, Sony put Apocalypse on hold in New Zealand after a devastating earthquake there.

Where does Sony go from here, though? Are they going to wait a little while, schedule a new release date, and hope no earthquakes occur within a month of it? I can't argue the compassion of such a move but this approach does back them into a corner. I suspect the next MotorStorm won't carry an apocalyptic theme, if only to avoid this reshuffling.
