Internet porn 'opt in' is censorship, say Canadians

All internet pornography should be preemptively blocked in Canada, says Conservative MP Joy Smith of Winnipeg, which would force those who want to access adult content to "opt in" with their internet service provider.
Earlier this week, British Prime Minister David Cameron did exactly this, announcing that by 2014 all ISPs in the UK will be mandated to block access to online pornography unless customers specifically ask for it.
"In the darkest corners of the internet, there are things going on that are a direct danger to our children, and that must be stamped out," he said in a speech.
Smith's assertion that Canada should follow suit has sparked outrage within the CBC Community, with more than 82 per cent of 6,138 readers polled saying they disagree.
