IGN Poll Result: 75% Disappointed with Xbox One Reveal

Yesterday we revealed the results of a poll run by IGN UK, which asked IGN readers about what they’d like to see at the next-gen Xbox reveal event. Microsoft effectively did the opposite of what respondents told us, focusing on the system as the entertainment centre of the home, as opposed to a gaming device.

Now, to be fair, E3 is only weeks away, so Microsoft may well have simply made the decision to save all its big gaming guns for that event and get the, erm, less interesting stuff out of the way first. Regardless, first impressions count, and it seems the reveal has left a sour taste in the mouths of IGN’s audience, at least if the 76,000 people that voted in our follow-up poll are anything to go by.

We asked “What did you think of the Xbox One reveal event?” Around 25% of respondents were positive about the reveal, with 6% saying it was fantastic and 17% regarding it as solid. On the flipside, more than 75% of the 76,000 people who voted thought it was disappointing. 47% of voters – ALMOST HALF – said there were too many elements they weren't interested in, while almost 29% of people said it was nothing short of a disaster.

Here’s hoping Microsoft can turn gamers’ impressions of the system around at E3. After all, regardless of its entertainment hub aspirations, Xbox One can’t afford to turn its back on the audience that greatly contributed to the success of Xbox 360.

A better question would have been "Are you aware Microsoft said that they weren't going to announce any major games at the event?" since that seems to be the main reason to why people are disappointed. They said 15 exclusives would launch with Xbox One (within a year), of which 8 are new IPs. I'm pretty sure they are saving that for E3.

People only hear/read what they wanted to hear, they wanted games, so although Microsoft said they wouldn't announce major games at the event, they are still mad..
