So almost a week after my PC fucked up, I have got it back with a new 500gb HDD A Western Digital one, while previously I used Maxtor.
The first impression I got when I booted up the OS from a DVD was like... That's not the BIOS-looking windows installer anymore. Since I never used Vista, I didn't get time to find any similiarties but it looked just pure awesome. The install was fairly quick and the GUI actually looked nice so I didn't have to jump around the room looking at an ugly yellow bar on a blue blackground like I was used to with WinXP.
The install got done quickly and I was left alone (yet with a thing called "Getting started" in Start-menu, since I never look at such things) with a new awesome-looking desktop. It looks just so fucking awesome, look at those preview videos to get a idea:

I actually didn't have the idea of booting Win7 on my new HDD when I get it back, but when I saw Mave had rated and favorited a Win7 preview video on YouTube I kinda started liking it. I'm a very conservative person and I've had like 4 chances of upgrading to Vista for example, naah - too much a mess. Well, installing Windows 7 is not hard neither a mess. You don't have to do anything but select a partition you want to install it on, select your region and language, and proceed. In 10 minutes you are done.
To be honest I have never seen anything this cool on my PC before.
Next thing I had to do was get Firefox 3.5... the Internet Explorer download actually shows on the taskbar as a highlighted area of the icon. That's hawt. Then I needed to obviously get Windows Live stuff - messenger, mail. As a cool addition I took WLWriter as well, perhaps Mave will let me post some cool stuff on our WP from time to time?
The next thing I had in mind was attaching my LaCie so I could get my music and stuff, so yeah... plugged it in, tested if I'm gonna need to get the Realtek drivers... nope, seem to be included already. Last year when installing XP I was left without audio for a week of fiddling around with the system.
I will post some screenies as soon as I have my stuff set up.
