Google Nexus 10 to ditch Samsung for eye-popping Asus

Google could be about to ditch Samsung for the new Google Nexus 10. Reports suggest the next 10-inch Nexus Android slate will be built by Asus instead -- which could mean an eye-popping screen.

Asus makes the 7-inch Google Nexus 7, but the current Nexus 10 is built by Samsung. That could change with the new model revealed by Twitter tipster evleaks to be based on the latest Asus Transformer Pad Infinity tablet.

That's good news if the new Nexus 10 keeps the retina-frying screen adorning the Infinity, which offers a delightfully detailed 2,560x1,600 pixel resolution. The Asus slate also boasts a Tegra 4 processor with 2GB of RAM and claims 13-hour battery life.

That's a lot of hardware for the Nexus line's traditional affordable price. A previous leak courtesy of PC World suggested the new Nexus 10 would cost £349.

The new Nexus 10 should also be the first tablet to show off Android KitKat, the next generation of Google's software for phones and tablets. We've got our fingers crossed KitKat turns up this month with the hotly-anticipated 5-inch Google Nexus 5 smart phone, set to replace the current 4-inch Google Nexus 4 any minute now.
