Four members of the Scene release group RNS have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy to commit copyright infringement. They face five years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
The FBI say that RNS operated between 1999 and 2007, although it appears many releases have been made since then, including one just two days ago.

Adil R.Cassim, 29, Bennie Glover, 35, Matthew D. Chow, 28, and Edward L. Mohan, 46, have all been charged with being members of the ‘Scene’ music piracy group RNS, otherwise known as Rabid Neurosis. According to the indictment the group acquired pre-release music from industry insiders, with some of the material allegedly source from a CD manufacturing plant in North Carolina, before uploading it to the Internet. The group also used their own money to buy legitimate copies of CDs from stores, which they later uploaded to the Internet. If convicted, the penalties are harsh for the defendants – a maximum of 5 years in jail, a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release and possible orders of restitution. | ![]() |
