Doctors in China have discovered the cause of an eight-year-old boy’s constant coughs and colds – a drawing pin stuck in his chest.
Xiao Ming, of Mingguang, Anhui province, had been suffering from the mystery ailments for a year, reports the Yangtse Eveing Post.
His parents finally took him to hospital where an xray revealed the drawing pin clearly visible in his right lung.
Ming finally confessed that he swallowed the tack last year but kept it to himself because he was worried he would be told off.
Doctor Zhou Ai, from Nanjing Children’s Hospital, said the right lung had withered due to the piercing from the drawing pin.
“But he’s very lucky that it didn’t cause even more serious damage,” he added.
Dr Zhou removed the rusty drawing pin with an endoscope. Ming is expected to make a good recovery.
