All my files are read only - yet another Windows fuckup

My 1 month trip was cut short to a week. A day after I came back, I try downloading something, but FireFox says it's not able to save the file. So I check if the "Downloads" folder is read-only, and sure enough it is. So I un-check the box, press "OK", and the file is still read only. I renamed the folder, created a new one, named it Downloads, and it was also read only. After screwing around for a bit, I see that the whole "My Documents" folder is read-only. I google it, I see that other people have the same problem, and then I see that every folder on my computer is permanently stuck as "read-only".

What do I do? I'm not reformatting my computer Again for Another windows fuckup.

- Windows XP Home SP3.
 
I'm almost sure you got a virus, based on 20 minutes of googlin' your problem :/

Didn't find any good working suggestion though :/

I mean you have XP, I have Vista (the thing that is generally known as being worse then XP)

And I never had/have any trouble like you do :/
 
If it Is a virus, then probably because more people make XP-based viruses.

And it's not only me, my older brother (who uses Vista) get a lot of these types of troubles too. Maybe just because of the types of things we do differ from what average web-surfers do, which admittedly puts our computers at higher risk :tongue:.

I don't necessarily mean advanced creepy hacker stuff, I more mean awkward methods and maybe trusting sketchy sites/exes more then necessary. Lets not forget the main point which is "he uses Vista" o:.

Anyhow, this happened while my step dad was by himself, so he was probably overloading his dick with virus compacted porn sites.

Did you guys no there are NO WORKING VIRUSES FOR MAC OSX LEAPORD
Thats because it was based on a kernel that hardly anyone can crack. You can also get anti-virus programs for Mac, but its a waste of time as you don't need it.
The only virus for Mac EVER was back in OS 7, I Think.

As for Windows, I hate it and I would use Apple, but they don't have the wide game library as does MS. I Have no idea what your problem could be, but Google can be a good help.

That's so NOT true, there are virusses for a mac...
I had this discussion the whole year (half my class were maccers, other half windows) Trust me THERE ARE virusses for mac
