Tools to speed up the review/editing process

The first step in transcribing your file with the automatic transcription software is to upload your audio or video file and transcribe it automatically using speech-to-text technology. Usually this takes less than the duration of the audio file. The transcription draft is then opened in a special text editor with an integrated audio player. The audio player knows the timing of each word in the text. In the Voicedocs transcription software you can check and edit the transcription in two ways:

First, you can use the Play All feature of the audio player. During audio playback, each played word in the text is highlighted so that you can easily see if a word has been misrecognised. Playback is paused when you click and edit the word, then you can continue playback from that part to the end.

Secondly, you can navigate through the text using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Each text fragment around the cursor is automatically played back so you can see if there are any errors. The sound of the fragment is played automatically when you move to a new fragment. The fragment length can be changed via the toolbar. The current fragment can be played again by pressing Ctrl+Space.

You can change the audio playback speed in the toolbar to speed up the review in both methods. One of the best practices is to play all the audio again from beginning to end after all the edits have been completed for a final review. After editing and reviewing, you can press the "Export" button and download the text to your device in various formats such as DOC, TXT, SRT or JSON. You can also add timestamps for each sentence when downloading the transcript.

The subtitle editor tool with further functions for adding subtitles to videos is covered in a separate article.
