W7 - Screen black after restart

So I installed W7 on this HP desktop.
If I restart the system, right after the HP logo, the display stays blank...
Though if I force the PC off (by holding the power button) and then start it up again, nothing is wrong.

Any ideas? I don't have a clue what could be wrong.
All drivers are up to date.

What do you mean by "nothing is wrong"? It starts up and there's no black screen?

^ Yeah when I force it off and then turn it on, it boots up normally.

Check the BIOS for wrong configurations. I have no clue what else it could be.

^ Already resetted it to standard values :/
Any other suggestions/things I should maybe change in the BIOS?

Try booting another OS from a thumb drive, something like Debian or Ubuntu.

Smack it a few times.

Then realize it might be a GPU problem, if it's just a black screen :|

That would not explain why it boots after a complete shutdown.
You might check if it tries to boot with different options after being in standby.
Also it could be interesting to know what Standby mode it uses. Suspend-to-RAM (S3) or supsend-to-disk (S4).

^ Yeah indeed, I need to change the 'restart' so it becomes a hard restart somehow...

First tell me what Standby it is, S3 or S4. Because that might tell that the RAM/HDD is defect.

I had a problem like that with my old laptop O.o. (HP too.)
I had to remove the battery and the electric cable from the laptop, and then press on the start button for 30 seconds.
Then it worked again. Its a GPU issue i guess.
