Telstra blocks access to 4chan, 8chan, LiveLeak in Australia

Several websites including 4chan have been blocked by major Australian telcos for continuing to host footage of the Christchurch terrorist attack.

Telstra on Tuesday blocked access to 4chan, 8chan and Voat, the blog Zerohedge and video hosting platform Liveleak.

"We understand this may inconvenience some legitimate users of these sites, but these are extreme circumstances and we feel this is the right thing to do," Telstra networks and IT executive Nikos Katinakis said in a statement.

In related news, VPN sales skyrocket.

A VPN is in my opinion not a good solution.
The problem with VPNs is that you have to trust the vendor. In IT, it is best if you don't need to trust anybody.

Why should your VPN provider not hand out your access logs/public IP if requested by law enforcement/other agencies?
Because of those 5 bucks you're paying them per month? Naah.

If you want real, (almost) 100% guaranteed anonymity, you need to use onion routing/TOR.
Because with TOR, you don't have to trust anybody.

I love the saying "You're allow to hack anything, you simply must not get caught."
